## Definition

TecDoc is the **global reference database of automotive parts catalogues**, maintained by the European TecAlliance. Each vehicle (make + model + engine + year) has a unique identifier called K-Type (used internally by TecAlliance to key parts compatibility) that **guarantees compatibility** with all catalogued spare parts. When you enter your registration plate on baterias.com, the system cross-references your vehicle with TecDoc to return only batteries whose K-Type matches yours — avoiding typical mistakes like buying the battery for a Renault Clio 1.5 dCi 65 HP when your car is the 88 HP version (same model and engine, different battery). The K-Type is a 4-7 digit number visible in some catalogues. TecDoc also publishes cross-references between EN/DIN/JIS standards, voltages and dimensions — it is what lies behind "this battery is compatible with your car".
