TROJAN SOLAR PREMIUM Batteries - SMART CARBON

Trojan Solar Premium Smart Carbon: the top tier for off-grid

The Solar Premium Smart Carbon series features Smart Carbon™ technology on the negative plate, reducing sulfation and improving tolerance to partial state of charge (PSoC), common in off-grid solar installations where the battery rarely reaches 100%.

Compared with the Signature 600 or AGM 1700, the Premium Smart Carbon is built for the most demanding off-grid duty, with formats up to 450 Ah in both 6V and 12V.

Which off-grid solar setups it suits

• Off-grid home with daily intensive use and solar as the sole power source
• Farm or smallholding with solar panels and high, constant draw
• Small 12V solar cabin or refuge with a heavily-used bank
• Large off-grid installations where the battery almost never reaches full charge

How to choose your Trojan solar battery

Compare cycle life, Ah and technology across Trojan ranges in our battery comparator; if your installation rarely reaches full charge, PSoC tolerance makes a real difference to lifespan.

FAQ about the Trojan Solar Premium Smart Carbon

What is Trojan's Smart Carbon technology?

It's a carbon additive on the negative plate that reduces sulfation and improves charge acceptance, extending lifespan when the battery doesn't always reach full charge.

Is it compatible with any off-grid solar installation?

Yes, in both 6V and 12V configurations, provided the charge controller is sized for flooded deep-cycle lead-acid.

What's the difference between the Premium Smart Carbon and the AGM 1700?

The Premium Smart Carbon is flooded, with better PSoC tolerance and larger formats; the AGM 1700 is sealed and maintenance-free, but with less maximum capacity available.
