How often to replace emergency light batteries?

Every 4-5 years in normal use, per manufacturer certification. Regulations require periodic autonomy testing.

Can I switch Ni-Cd for Ni-MH?

Yes, keeping the same voltage and minimum capacity. Ni-MH HT delivers more mAh per cell and contains no cadmium — verify the luminaire's electronic charger is Ni-MH compatible.

How long does shipping take?

Standard delivery 1 to 5 working days to your country. We process orders within 24h.

Batteries for emergency lights

Emergency lighting batteries compliant with EN 60598-2-22 and EN 50171: self-contained and centralised units from Daisalux, Legrand, Schneider Electric, Sagelux, Hispania, Olfer, Normalux, Ova.

Because lights operate next to a hot LED or fluorescent module, the required chemistry is high-temperature Ni-Cd (HT) with 7-10 year life, or Ni-MH HT for modern replacements. 1.2-4.5 Ah cells in AA, C, D, sub-C, packed as 3-6 cells in series (3.6-7.2 V).

How to choose the right emergency lighting battery

Three must-knows: cell format (AA / C / D / sub-C), pack composition (3 or 4 cells in series with specific cable and connector) and minimum capacity in mAh from the original pack. HT (high temperature) chemistry is mandatory in modern luminaires — a standard cell fails within 1-2 years due to thermal electrolyte degradation.

Common formats

Format	Cell voltage	Typical capacity	Application
AA Ni-Cd HT	1.2 V	700-900 mAh	Small LED luminaire
Sub-C Ni-Cd HT	1.2 V	1,200-2,000 mAh	Standard 1-2 h luminaire
C Ni-Cd HT	1.2 V	1,800-2,500 mAh	Medium 1-3 h luminaire
D Ni-Cd HT	1.2 V	4,000-4,500 mAh	Large 3 h+ luminaire

Identify your pack

The original pack or fitting label reads something like "3×AA HT 700 mAh" or "4SC 1800 mAh". With that reference plus the luminaire brand (Daisalux Hydra, Legrand U21/U34, Schneider Exiway) we find exact compatibility.
