The Varta LFS75 battery is the 12 V, 75 Ah model delivering 600 A of cold cranking power (EN) from Varta's Professional Dual Purpose range, designed for motorhomes, boats and auxiliary power equipment. Measuring 260 × 175 × 225 mm and with the positive terminal on the left, it is the direct replacement for vehicles that leave the factory with a 75 Ah battery in this format.

  • Ideal for motorhomes, marine use and domestic power on board.
  • Dual cycle: it both cranks the engine and powers auxiliary equipment.
  • More endurance on board than a conventional starter battery.
  • Tolerates deep discharges and repeated recharging without degrading.

Applications of the Varta LFS75 battery

The Varta LFS75 covers the needs of motorhomes, boats and auxiliary power equipment with 75 Ah of capacity and a construction built for that use. Check that it matches your current battery in dimensions, terminals and hold-down: this reference weighs 18,5 kg and has a type 1 terminal and a B01 hold-down.

Size and fitting of the Varta LFS75

The Varta LFS75 is made in the 260 × 175 × 225 mm format and weighs 18,5 kg. The positive terminal on the left determines which side the cables run to: it is the detail that causes the most buying mistakes, so it is worth checking before ordering. It uses a B01 hold-down and a type 1 terminal, the system that anchors it to the vehicle's battery tray. Checking the three dimensions and the terminal position before buying avoids the most common mistake when replacing a battery.

The Varta LFS75 and the Professional Dual Purpose range

The Professional Dual Purpose range consists of dual-purpose batteries: they serve both to crank the engine and to power the on-board services, a balance conceived for leisure and marine use.

They are the answer when you want a single battery that starts reliably and at the same time sustains equipment draw with the engine off, without going as far as the extreme cycling of a deep cycle unit.

Unlike a pure starter battery, this range tolerates deep discharges and repeated recharging without degrading: exactly what a motorhome or a boat that draws power with the engine off needs. It therefore combines cranking and domestic duty in a single dual-cycle battery.

Why choose a Varta battery

Choosing Varta means going with the reference the car manufacturer itself signed off on in its day. Against own-brand batteries, the difference is not the purchase price but how many winters the battery lasts before leaving you stranded.

Behind Varta is Clarios, one of the largest manufacturers of starter batteries in the world and a supplier to the assembly lines of numerous car brands. That German engineering heritage translates into reliable starting year after year.

Varta's production combines automated lines with verification of more than 100 parameters per unit; that traceability is what underpins its reputation for reliable starting throughout the battery's life.

Manufacturer's warranty

The Varta LFS75 battery comes with a 1-year official warranty from the manufacturer.

Care and maintenance

In leisure applications, avoiding discharges below 50% of capacity multiplies the number of cycles the battery will deliver. A suitable charger and, where possible, a solar regulator keep it healthy through the seasons when it sees less use. To extend its life, recharge it as soon as possible after each discharge and never leave it flat over the winter. A trickle charger is the best investment for getting many cycles out of it.

How to change the battery

Guide to replace a marine battery (cranking or house) in 20-30 minutes. Moisture and vibration in marine environments require reinforced hold-downs and sealed copper terminals.

⏱ 20-30 min🛠 Tools: 10 mm or 13 mm wrench (depending on terminal) · Protective gloves
  1. Step 1. Prepare the vehicle

Park on a flat surface, switch off the engine and remove the key. Make sure all lights and electrical accessories are off. Wait 1-2 minutes before starting.

  2. Step 2. Locate the battery compartment

Usually under the passenger bench, engine room or a dedicated ventilated compartment. Verify the compartment is dry and well ventilated before opening.

  3. Step 3. Disconnect the negative (−) terminal

Use the 10 mm wrench to loosen the negative cable nut (black, marked −) and remove the cable from the post. Move it aside so it cannot touch any bodywork.

  4. Step 4. Disconnect the positive (+) terminal

Repeat with the positive cable (red, marked +). Important: never let a terminal touch metal of the car while the other is still connected.

  5. Step 5. Remove the old battery

Marine batteries are heavy (15-50 kg). If it has rope handles, use them; otherwise have a carry strap ready. Secure the new one with metal hold-downs (not plastic) to resist sea-state vibration.

  6. Step 6. Install the new battery

Place the battery in the same orientation as the old one (positive terminal on the same side). Tighten the hold-down clamp firmly.

  7. Step 7. Connect the cables

Connect the positive (+) terminal first, then the negative (−). Tighten the nuts with the wrench until each terminal does not move. Apply anti-spark grease if you have any.

  8. Step 8. Verify circuit + water protection

Apply dielectric grease on terminals to prevent salt-air corrosion. Check the engine charging circuit delivers 13.8-14.4 V at 2,000 rpm.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check that the Varta LFS75 battery fits my vehicle?

Three ways: 1) enter your number plate in the finder (DGT/DVLA/KBA auto-detect your model and engine); 2) check the "Compatible vehicles" tab on this page, where we list every vehicle verified by our technical team for the LFS75; 3) if you cannot find your model, message us on WhatsApp with brand, model, engine and year — we reply during business hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00 CET).

How do I change this battery step by step?

In most boats it fits in 15-30 minutes with a 10 mm wrench; if the battery is under the seat or in the boot the time can double. See the step-by-step guide on this page. Quick summary: 1) switch off the engine and remove the key; 2) locate the original battery (engine bay, boot or under seat); 3) disconnect the negative (−) terminal first, then the positive (+); 4) loosen the hold-down clamp and remove the old battery; 5) fit the new one in the same orientation — match the polarity shown on the product sheet; 6) connect the positive (+) first, then the negative (−). On boats with Start-Stop or BMS, register the battery via OBD so the alternator applies the correct charging profile.

How many years of warranty does the LFS75 model cover?

This battery includes 1 year of official manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects. It covers cell failures, internal short-circuits and abnormal capacity drops. It does NOT cover misuse (prolonged overcharging, inadequate charger, defective alternator). If the battery fails, we replace it at no cost after a technical inspection.

How long does Varta LFS75 delivery take?

In mainland Spain and Portugal it arrives in 24 h if you order before 17:00 and the battery is in stock — it leaves the same day and arrives the next business day. Afternoon or weekend orders ship the next business day. For Balearics, Canaries and other EU destinations, allow 2-5 days. Shipping cost is calculated in the cart based on destination and service (standard, express, cash on delivery). Tracking number is sent by email + SMS as soon as the parcel ships.

Can I return the Varta LFS75 battery if it doesn't fit or doesn't work?

Yes. You have 14 days from delivery to return it. In mainland Spain and Portugal returns are FREE — we cover the return shipping cost via prepaid label. In other EU countries the return shipping cost is the customer's. It must arrive in its original packaging with no signs of installation. If it was defective, the warranty covers replacement even after the 14-day period.

Shipping cost is calculated in the cart based on destination and chosen service (standard, express, cash on delivery). Secure payment by card, Bizum, PayPal or bank transfer. If you choose at-home installation, our technician will take the used battery and dispose of it through an authorised collection point.

How long does the Varta LFS75 battery last?

Expected lifespan of the Varta LFS75 is 4 to 6 years in regular boat use without Start-Stop. In cold regions it drops slightly due to cold-start stress; in very hot regions it also drops because of electrolyte evaporation. To extend its life: avoid deep discharges (headlights on with engine off), have the alternator checked yearly, and keep the battery clean and properly secured.

What are the dimensions of the Varta LFS75 battery?

Dimensions (length × width × height) are 260×175×225 mm — also written as 260x175x225 mm — following the European DIN standard. Always measure the space in your boat before buying: even one extra millimetre can prevent the hold-down clamp from closing. The height shown includes the terminals.

What is the weight of the LFS75 model?

It weighs 17,2 kg. Most of the weight is lead. If you plan to fit it yourself, use gloves and a carrying strap (AGM batteries are slightly heavier than conventional due to the absorbent glass-mat fibre).

How many amps does the Varta LFS75 battery have?

Nominal capacity 75 Ah[?cca: and [cold-cranking amps 600 A]] at 12 V. Ah measure the total energy available (autonomy); CCA (also written A in cold or EN under the European standard) measure the instantaneous power to crank the starter motor. A battery with more CCA starts better in winter; one with more Ah keeps accessories on for longer.

Will the Varta LFS75 battery fit my boat?

Three options to confirm: 1) enter your number plate in the finder (DGT/DVLA/KBA auto-detect your model and engine); 2) check the "Compatible vehicles" tab on this page, where we list every vehicle verified by our technical team; 3) if you cannot find your model, message us on WhatsApp with brand, model, engine and year — we reply during business hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00 CET). The LFS75 fits 1 verified vehicle versions in our database.

Which batteries are equivalent to the Varta LFS75?

Directly interchangeable batteries (same dimensions, same polarity, same Ah and CCA) are the OEM equivalents from leading brands: Bosch, Tudor, Exide and, depending on the model, Banner or Yuasa. Exact equivalence depends on technology — an EFB cannot be replaced with a conventional battery in Start-Stop boats. See the "Equivalents" section to view recommended options at the same performance level.

Is the LFS75 model better than its equivalents from other brands?

This battery and its equivalents from Bosch, Tudor or Exide are technically comparable: same dimensions, same voltage and same capacity. The differences are warranty (Varta and Bosch: 2 years; Tudor and Exide: 2 years on the equivalent line), manufacturing plant (Varta and Bosch share origin in the Clarios Group; Tudor and Exide belong to Exide Technologies) and price. For private use any of these brands will give 4-6 years of life. Compare them in the "Equivalents" section.
