The 12 V, 7 Ah Ritar HR12-28W stationary battery from the HR range with AGM technology is designed for UPS, alarms, telecoms and emergency lighting. Measuring 151 × 65 × 100 mm, it is the direct replacement for UPS, alarm and emergency systems fitted from the factory with a 7 Ah battery of this format.

  • Low self-discharge and high reliability.
  • Standard format for UPS and emergency systems.
  • AGM: faster recharging and better cycle resistance than a conventional battery.
  • Instant response to mains failures.

What the Ritar HR12-28W is for

Designed for UPS, alarms, telecoms and emergency lighting, the Ritar HR12-28W is sealed, gas-free and suitable for technical cabinets and offices. Check that it matches your current battery in dimensions, terminals and hold-down: this reference has a weight of 2.08 kg and F1 / F2 terminals.

The Ritar HR12-28W: HR range and AGM technology

Within the Ritar catalogue, the HR series groups the references designed for this use. The HR12-28W is the 7 Ah model of that family, with the same performance as its siblings in other sizes.

In an AGM battery the electrolyte is absorbed in glass-fibre separators: there is no free liquid, it cannot spill and it can be mounted at an angle. That construction lowers internal resistance, speeds up recharging and multiplies cycle life compared with a conventional battery.

Will it fit your current battery tray?

It has external dimensions of 151 × 65 × 100 mm and weighs 2.08 kg. It uses F1 / F2 terminals, the system that anchors and connects it in the vehicle. For a direct replacement, the current battery tray must accept these dimensions and the same terminal layout; otherwise adapters will be needed or the hold-down will change.

Why choose Ritar batteries

Ritar is one of the world's largest VRLA battery manufacturers. Its RA, RT, RL, HR and FT series equip UPS, telecoms and solar systems worldwide with very consistent quality. We guarantee that every Ritar arrives new, charged and with the manufacturer's full warranty.

Usage and maintenance tips

Charge with a charger that has an AGM mode: it limits the voltage and protects the glass-fibre separators. Replace all the batteries in the set at once and avoid environments continuously above 25 °C.

Manufacturer's warranty

The Ritar HR12-28W comes with the manufacturer's official warranty against manufacturing defects. If it fails through a defect within the warranty period, we replace it at no cost to you.

Delivery times and returns

Orders placed before 6:00 pm with the battery in stock ship the same day. Delivery in mainland Spain and Portugal takes 24-48 working hours; for the Balearic and Canary Islands and the rest of the European Union allow 3 to 5 working days. You have 14 days to return an unused battery; in mainland Spain and Portugal collection is free. We email you the tracking number as soon as the parcel ships.

How to change the battery

Guide to replace a cyclic battery (12V 4-30Ah) for UPS, mobility scooter, alarm or backup device. Estimated time 10-15 minutes. Important: discharge residual voltage before handling.

⏱ 10-15 min🛠 Tools: Screwdriver or small wrench (3-5 mm typical) · Protective gloves
  1. Step 1. Power off and unplug the device

Unplug the device (UPS, scooter, alarm) and leave it off for at least 30 seconds to discharge residual capacitor voltage. Work on an insulating surface.

  2. Step 2. Locate the battery compartment

Usually under the seat (mobility scooter/wheelchair), in the rear module of the UPS, or behind a side panel with screws. Check the device manual for unusual models.

  3. Step 3. Disconnect the negative (−) first

With insulated gloves, remove the negative (−) cable first. Some UPS have protection fuses — note their position before removing.

  4. Step 4. Disconnect the positive (+) terminal

Repeat with the positive cable (red, marked +). Important: never let a terminal touch metal of the car while the other is still connected.

  5. Step 5. Remove the old battery

Typical weight 1-15 kg depending on capacity. Many cyclic batteries are AGM/GEL — keep them upright. Do NOT invert the battery: even sealed, residue may exist.

  6. Step 6. Fit the new battery

Same orientation and type (AGM, GEL or flooded). Polarity must match the device, not a chassis (this is not a car). Make sure terminals do not touch metal parts of the compartment.

  7. Step 7. Connect the positive (+) first

On cyclic devices the order is reversed compared to cars: positive (+) first, negative (−) afterwards. Tighten without forcing — the plastic terminal housing of cyclic batteries damages easily.

  8. Step 8. Initial charge before first use

Cyclic batteries ship at 60-80%. Before first use, connect the device charger for 8-12 hours (or use an AGM/GEL smart charger if available). This avoids short cycles and extends lifespan.

Frequently asked questions

Is the HR12-28W model AGM? What does this technology offer?

Yes. The HR12-28W from Ritar uses AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology: a sealed lead-acid battery where the electrolyte is absorbed in a glass-fibre mat. It withstands more charge/discharge cycles than a conventional one, handles heat better and is the required technology for devices with advanced Start-Stop and regenerative braking. Expected lifespan: 5-8 years under normal conditions.

How do I fit the HR12-28W model in my device?

In most devices it fits in 15-30 minutes with a 10 mm wrench; if the battery is under the seat or in the boot the time can double. See the step-by-step guide on this page. Quick summary: 1) switch off the engine and remove the key; 2) locate the original battery (engine bay, boot or under seat); 3) disconnect the negative (−) terminal first, then the positive (+); 4) loosen the hold-down clamp and remove the old battery; 5) fit the new one in the same orientation — match the polarity shown on the product sheet; 6) connect the positive (+) first, then the negative (−). On devices with Start-Stop or BMS, register the battery via OBD so the alternator applies the correct charging profile.

How long does the Ritar HR12-28W battery last?

Expected lifespan of the Ritar HR12-28W is 5 to 8 years in mild-climate device use with Start-Stop. In cold regions it drops slightly due to cold-start stress; in very hot regions it also drops because of electrolyte evaporation. To extend its life: avoid deep discharges (headlights on with engine off), have the alternator checked yearly, and keep the battery clean and properly secured.

What are the dimensions of the Ritar HR12-28W battery?

Dimensions (length × width × height) are 151×65×100 mm — also written as 151x65x100 mm — following the European DIN standard. Always measure the space in your device before buying: even one extra millimetre can prevent the hold-down clamp from closing. The height shown includes the terminals.

Which batteries are equivalent to the Ritar HR12-28W?

Directly interchangeable batteries (same dimensions, same polarity, same Ah and CCA) are the OEM equivalents from leading brands: Bosch, Tudor, Exide and, depending on the model, Banner or Yuasa. Exact equivalence depends on technology — an EFB cannot be replaced with a conventional battery in Start-Stop devices. See the "Equivalents" section to view recommended options at the same performance level.
