The Exide EC605 in practice
When not to choose it
Rule it out if the car has Start-Stop, even if the dimensions match: conventional technology cannot take that cycling. And always keep at least the original Ah and A.

Classic car battery Exide EC605 Classic 60Ah 440A 12V
The Exide EC605 from the Classic range is rated at 12 V, 60 Ah and 440 A of cold cranking current (EN), a common choice for classic and vintage cars with their original electrical system. Its 270 × 173 × 222 mm make it the exact replacement for the 60 Ah battery fitted as standard to many classic cars.
In short: the Exide EC605 (60 Ah, 440 A, 270 × 173 × 222 mm). Verified equivalent alternatives: Tudor TC605 and Tudor TA755.
- Behaves well after long periods without use.
- Good balance of capacity, cranking power and price.
- Low self-discharge for cars that rarely leave the garage.
- Safe starting for carburettor engines and classic ignition.
Will it fit your current battery tray?
The Exide EC605 is made in the 270 × 173 × 222 mm format and weighs 15.50 kg. Before replacing it, measure your current battery tray: if all three dimensions and the terminal positions match, the swap is direct and needs no adapters.
What the Exide EC605 is for
The Exide EC605 is designed for classic and vintage cars with their original electrical system: a format compatible with period trays and a stable voltage for original ignition and wiring. Check that it matches your current battery in dimensions, terminals and hold-down: this reference has a weight of 15.50 kg.
The Exide EC605: Classic range and conventional lead-acid technology
The EC605 is part of the Exide Classic range. Choosing the right reference within the series comes down to capacity, dimensions and terminals: technology and quality are common to the whole family.
Conventional lead-acid is the benchmark against which other technologies are compared: good cranking current, great tolerance to alternator charging and the best price per amp-hour.
What Exide does differently
With more than a century of history, Exide Technologies manufactures automotive, marine, motorcycle and industrial batteries in Europe. Its presence as original equipment on assembly lines vouches for the quality of every reference. At baterias.com we work directly with the manufacturer or its official distributor: real stock, brand-new product and official warranty.
Warranty and coverage
The Exide EC605 comes with the manufacturer's official warranty against manufacturing defects. The warranty does not cover deep discharge through inactivity: in a classic, a trickle charger is the best protection.
Usage and maintenance tips
On batteries with filler caps, check the electrolyte level and top up only with distilled water. A classic car often stands for long spells: a trickle charger connected in the garage is the best investment for the battery.
Shipping, delivery and returns
Order before 6:00 pm with stock available and it leaves today: mainland Spain and Portugal receive it in 24-48 working hours, the islands and the rest of the EU in 3 to 5 days. You have 14 days to return it if it has not been installed, with free collection on the mainland, and shipment tracking by email.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Exide EC605 battery installed in the vehicle?
On most cars it is a 15-30 minute job needing only a 10 mm spanner (up to twice as long when the battery is under a seat or in the boot). With the engine stopped and the key removed, always start with the negative (−) terminal, then the positive (+). Free the clamp, swap the battery without turning it round so the polarity stays the same, and reconnect in reverse: positive (+) first, negative (−) last. For the detail, read our guide to replacing the car battery and, if in doubt, the owner's handbook or a main dealer.
How long does the Exide EC605 battery last?
As a guide, you can expect the Exide EC605 to last 4 to 6 years in regular car use without Start-Stop, although the real figure may be higher or lower. It can vary considerably with usage (short or long journeys), temperature, the condition of the alternator and charging system, power drawn with the engine off and maintenance, plus the car itself and Start-Stop. Cold demands more at every start and intense heat evaporates the electrolyte.
What are the dimensions of the Exide EC605 battery?
It measures 270×173×222 mm in length × width × height, with the terminals included in the height. Measure the battery tray before ordering: a one-millimetre difference is enough for the hold-down clamp not to close.
Does this battery fit my car?
Not sure? Try your number plate in the finder (DGT/DVLA/KBA detect model and engine) or the "Compatible vehicles" tab, checked by our technical team; if your car is not there, send us make, model, engine and year on WhatsApp and we will reply during business hours (Mon–Fri 10:00–13:30 and 16:30–18:00 (Spanish time, CET)). In every case, the car manufacturer's specifications (owner's handbook) take precedence.
Which batteries are equivalent to the Exide EC605?
Interchangeable means the same dimensions, same polarity, same Ah and same CCA; for the EC605, 60 Ah (440 A cranking). See the "Equivalents" section of this page for the recommended options at the same performance level. Mind the technology: in Start-Stop cars an EFB is not swapped for a conventional battery.
Exide EC605 or Exide EA755: which one to choose?
It is the bigger sister of the EC605 in the same Exide range. Compared with the EC605 it has 15 Ah more and 190 A of cold cranking more. It costs 15,20 € less. If the tray takes the size, extra reserve never hurts; for a daily-driven petrol car the extra is not needed.
Exide EC605 or Exide EB705: which one to choose?
Same family as the EC605, one step up in performance. Compared with the EC605 it has 10 Ah more and 100 A of cold cranking more. It costs 25,70 € less. Worth it if your car originally had more capacity, is a diesel or cranks lazily in winter; otherwise the EC605 does the job.
