EFB covers basic Start-Stop (no regenerative braking); AGM covers Start-Stop with energy recovery and high electrical demand. If your car came with EFB you can fit EFB or upgrade to AGM; if it came with AGM, only AGM.

Can I fit a conventional battery if my car takes EFB?

EXIDE EFB

Exide EFB batteries in the EL series are built for cars with basic Start-Stop and no regenerative braking: reinforced-plate EFB technology (Enhanced Flooded Battery) from 60 to 95 Ah with 540 to 850 A of cranking power (CCA). It is the counterpart of Tudor EFB Microhybrid and Varta Blue Dynamic EFB.

If your car switches the engine off at traffic lights but does not recover energy while braking, an Exide EFB Start-Stop battery is the correct replacement for the original: it withstands far more starts than a conventional battery and costs less than AGM, from city cars to vans.

Exide EFB: the reinforced Start-Stop battery for everyday driving

An EFB battery is a flooded battery with reinforced plates and additives that let it work at partial states of charge and handle constant restarts without degrading like a conventional battery. It is the technology factory-fitted to cars with basic Start-Stop: engine off and on at stops, without regenerative braking. Never replace it with a conventional battery; you can upgrade to AGM if you want extra reserve.
