Varta I1 12V 110Ah 920A is a ready-to-use passenger car battery, sealed and maintenance-free. Delivers the cranking amps the engine needs in cold weather and keeps stable voltage for modern car loads (ECU, sensors, climate control, infotainment).

The Varta I1 car battery is the 12 V, 110 Ah model delivering 920 A of cold cranking power (EN), from Varta's Dynamic SLI (formerly Blue Dynamic) range, designed for cars with conventional starting, without a Start-Stop system. Measuring 393 × 175 × 190 mm with the positive terminal on the right, it is the direct replacement for cars that leave the factory with a 110 Ah battery in this format.
The Varta I1 is compatible with more than 72 vehicles: it is fitted as standard or as a replacement by makes such as Audi, Citroën, Nissan, Iveco, Fiat and BMW. For anyone who needs to change the battery in their Audi or Citroën, this Varta I1 reproduces the original specifications. It also appears as a replacement in vehicles from Maxus, Vauxhall, Renault, Opel, Peugeot, Land Rover, Hyundai and Porsche, among other manufacturers. In format, the Varta I1 measures 393 × 175 × 190 mm (length × width × height) and weighs 25.2 kg. The positive terminal on the right determines which side the cables end up on: this is the detail behind more wrong purchases than any other, so it is worth checking before you order. It takes a B13 hold-down and terminal 1, the system that anchors it to the vehicle's battery tray. For the swap to be direct, the space left by the current battery must respect those three dimensions and the same terminal layout; otherwise adapters will be needed or the hold-down would have to change.
The Dynamic SLI series (blue label) is Varta's lead-acid line for cars with conventional starting, without Start-Stop. It succeeds the Blue, Silver and Black Dynamic ranges and keeps the calcium-silver grid technology that ensures low self-discharge and reliable cold starting, with no maintenance required.
Aimed at the bulk of the car and van fleet, it offers Varta's classic balance of starting power and durability at a sensible price: the logical replacement for the original battery in a car without Start-Stop.
Compared with an EFB or AGM Start-Stop battery, this range prioritises a keen price and punchy starting in conventional cars. With proper care — avoiding deep discharges and keeping an eye on the alternator — a battery from this series gives several years of trouble-free service. This battery used to belong to Varta's Blue Dynamic, Silver Dynamic or Black Dynamic range; following the brand's commercial renaming (2025), it now forms part of the new Dynamic SLI series.
Manufactured by Clarios to German standards, Varta is one of the world's benchmark brands in starter batteries and an OEM supplier to the leading car makers. Choosing it as a replacement guarantees specifications equal to or better than the originals.
Varta combines more than a century of experience with Clarios's industrial production: it is the battery many manufacturers choose as standard and one of the most recommended by workshops. Like any lead-acid battery, it is 100% recyclable.
Varta is Europe's leading manufacturer of starter batteries: its production volume and quality controls guarantee consistent reliability batch after batch, something own-brand makes cannot always promise.
The Varta I1 battery comes with a 2-year official warranty from the manufacturer.
To get the most out of it, keep the alternator in good order and avoid leaving lights or accessories on with the engine switched off. Repeated very short journeys are its worst enemy: they stop the battery from recharging fully and shorten its life. If the car is going to stand for weeks, it is worth disconnecting a terminal or fitting a trickle charger so that it does not discharge below the safe threshold. Checking that the terminals are clean and properly tightened also helps it start first time.

Step-by-step guide to replace your car battery in 15-30 minutes (longer if the battery is under the seat or in the boot) without losing vehicle settings.
Park on a flat surface, switch off the engine and remove the key. Make sure all lights and electrical accessories are off. Wait 1-2 minutes before starting.
Open the bonnet. The battery is usually in the engine bay, but in many modern cars it may be in the boot or under the passenger seat. Check the manual if you cannot find it.
Use the 10 mm wrench to loosen the negative cable nut (black, marked −) and remove the cable from the post. Move it aside so it cannot touch any bodywork.
Repeat with the positive cable (red, marked +). Important: never let a terminal touch metal of the car while the other is still connected.
Loosen the bottom hold-down clamp with the same wrench. Lift the battery carefully (it can weigh 15-25 kg). Clean the tray with a brush and baking soda if there is corrosion.
Place the battery in the same orientation as the old one (positive terminal on the same side). Tighten the hold-down clamp firmly.
Connect the positive (+) terminal first, then the negative (−). Tighten the nuts with the wrench until each terminal does not move. Apply anti-spark grease if you have any.
Close the bonnet. Start the engine to confirm everything works. On cars with Start-Stop or a BMS, you may need to register the battery via OBD so the alternator applies the correct charging profile.
Three ways: 1) enter your number plate in the finder (DGT/DVLA/KBA auto-detect your model and engine); 2) check the "Compatible vehicles" tab on this page, where we list every vehicle verified by our technical team for the I1; 3) if you cannot find your model, message us on WhatsApp with brand, model, engine and year — we reply during business hours (Mon–Fri 9:00–18:00 CET).
In most cars it fits in 15-30 minutes with a 10 mm wrench; if the battery is under the seat or in the boot the time can double. See the step-by-step guide on this page. Quick summary: 1) switch off the engine and remove the key; 2) locate the original battery (engine bay, boot or under seat); 3) disconnect the negative (−) terminal first, then the positive (+); 4) loosen the hold-down clamp and remove the old battery; 5) fit the new one in the same orientation — match the polarity shown on the product sheet; 6) connect the positive (+) first, then the negative (−). On cars with Start-Stop or BMS, register the battery via OBD so the alternator applies the correct charging profile.
The official manufacturer warranty is 2 years and covers manufacturing defects. It applies to defects such as damaged cells, internal short-circuits or abnormal capacity loss. Damage from misuse is excluded: prolonged overcharging, unsuitable chargers or a faulty alternator. If the battery fails, we replace it at no cost after a technical inspection.

Expected lifespan of the Varta I1 is 4 to 6 years in regular car use without Start-Stop. In cold regions it drops slightly due to cold-start stress; in very hot regions it also drops because of electrolyte evaporation. To extend its life: avoid deep discharges (headlights on with engine off), have the alternator checked yearly, and keep the battery clean and properly secured.
Dimensions (length × width × height) are 393×175×190 mm — also written as 393x175x190 mm and correspond to the European L6 case size — following the European DIN standard. Always measure the space in your car before buying: even one extra millimetre can prevent the hold-down clamp from closing. The height shown includes the terminals.
It weighs 23,8 kg. Most of the weight is lead. If you plan to fit it yourself, use gloves and a carrying strap (AGM batteries are slightly heavier than conventional due to the absorbent glass-mat fibre).
Nominal capacity 110 Ah[?cca: and [cold-cranking amps 920 A]] at 12 V. Ah measure the total energy available (autonomy); CCA (also written A in cold or EN under the European standard) measure the instantaneous power to crank the starter motor. A battery with more CCA starts better in winter; one with more Ah keeps accessories on for longer.
The manufacturer reference (MPN) is I1 and its ETN code is 6104020923162 (short form 610 402 092), the European identifier used in spare-part catalogues. The EAN-13 barcode is 4016987167465. It belongs to the VARTA SILVER dynamic range. Any of these codes identifies exactly this battery when requesting quotes or comparing prices.

Directly interchangeable batteries (same dimensions, same polarity, same Ah and CCA) are the OEM equivalents from leading brands: Bosch, Tudor, Exide and, depending on the model, Banner or Yuasa. Exact equivalence depends on technology — an EFB cannot be replaced with a conventional battery in Start-Stop cars. See the "Equivalents" section to view recommended options at the same performance level.
This battery and its equivalents from Bosch, Tudor or Exide are technically comparable: same dimensions, same voltage and same capacity. The differences are warranty (Varta and Bosch: 2 years; Tudor and Exide: 2 years on the equivalent line), manufacturing plant (Varta and Bosch share origin in the Clarios Group; Tudor and Exide belong to Exide Technologies) and price. For private use any of these brands will give 4-6 years of life. Compare them in the "Equivalents" section.
