Three ways to find your battery

At baterias.com you can find the battery for your vehicle in three complementary ways, each designed for a different level of information and comfort. If your number plate is from Spain or Portugal, we identify the exact model in under a second and show you only 100 % compatible batteries. If you prefer to browse by category, our brand-and-model finder guides you step by step. And if you know the technical specs (Ah, CCA, AGM/EFB, dimensions), our comparator filters the whole catalogue in real time. All three tools are free, instant and their results are validated by our technical team against the official manufacturer data.

By number plate

The fastest and most reliable way: enter your number plate and, in under a second, we identify the make, model, engine, year and trim of your vehicle. We then show the original factory battery and every compatible equivalent, sorted by price, capacity (Ah), cranking current (CCA) and technology (AGM, EFB, GEL, LiFePO4 or lead-acid).

 • Zero risk of error: only batteries that fit your tray and match your vehicle's electrical system.
 • Automatic detection of Start-Stop, energy recovery and auxiliary loads — key to deciding AGM or EFB.
 • Instant and free: no registration, no waiting and no purchase commitment.
 • Works with cars, motorcycles, vans, motorhomes, trucks and machinery registered in Spain or Portugal.

By brand and model

If you don't have the number plate to hand, if your vehicle is registered outside Spain or Portugal, or you just prefer to browse by category, our brand-and-model finder guides you from vehicle type (car, motorcycle, truck, boat, caravan, jet-ski, quad…) to the exact compatible battery. More than 30,000 models validated by our technicians.

 • International coverage: ideal for foreign vehicles or those without a visible plate.
 • Intuitive navigation: type → brand → model → engine → year.
 • Full comparison with capacity (Ah), cranking (CCA), technology, dimensions and polarity.
 • Specialised applications: cyclic for solar, marine AGM, mobility, industrial and UPS.

By specifications

If you know the technical data — capacity (Ah), cranking (CCA), voltage, technology or exact dimensions — our specifications comparator filters the whole catalogue in real time. It is the right tool for professionals, workshops, fleet managers and advanced users who want to compare brands and prices on concrete criteria.

 • Stackable filters: application, technology (AGM, EFB, GEL, Lithium), Ah, CCA, voltage, brand and dimensions (length × width × height with ±mm tolerance).
 • Side-by-side comparison: pick up to 4 batteries and compare them on a single screen.
 • Free-text search by OEM reference, manufacturer or EAN.
 • Instant results: the list updates live as you adjust the filters.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right battery for my car?

At baterias.com you can locate the battery compatible with your vehicle in three ways: enter your registration plate in our search tool (it returns the original equivalent battery instantly), browse by car make and model, or enter the OEM reference or part number of your current battery. The system cross-references over 25,000 vehicles with the leading manufacturers database to guarantee correct voltage, capacity (Ah), cold cranking amps (CCA) and polarity.

What is the difference between AGM, EFB and standard lead-acid batteries?

Conventional lead-acid batteries are the most affordable option and are fitted to cars without start-stop. EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is an upgraded technology that withstands more charge-discharge cycles and suits basic start-stop systems. AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries hold the electrolyte in fibreglass, deliver twice the cycle life of EFB and are mandatory on vehicles with advanced start-stop and regenerative braking. Rule of thumb: if your car has regenerative braking you need AGM; if it has only basic start-stop, EFB is sufficient.

How long does delivery take?

Standard shipping within mainland Spain and Portugal takes 24 to 48 working hours. We also offer express delivery before 2 pm on the next working day for orders placed before 6 pm (excluding weekends and bank holidays). Delivery to the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany typically takes 3 to 5 working days. The Balearic and Canary Islands have specific delivery times depending on the product.

Do you offer at-home battery installation? In which cities?

Yes. We provide a professional at-home battery installation service in the main Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, Zaragoza and other major capitals. A qualified technician travels to the customer location or to wherever the vehicle is parked, fits the battery in 30 to 60 minutes and takes the old battery away for free recycling. The service is usually delivered within 1 to 3 hours of order confirmation.

What warranty do your batteries come with?

Every battery sold at baterias.com is covered by a minimum 2-year manufacturer warranty against production defects, in accordance with European consumer goods legislation. Varta, Tudor, Exide and Optima batteries carry the official manufacturer warranty, which can be up to 4 years on some premium models. We only sell brand-new batteries with recent production dates (no more than 6 months old), never refurbished or old stock.

Can I return the battery if I ordered the wrong model?

Yes. Within mainland Spain and Portugal, returns are free for the first 14 calendar days after delivery, provided the battery has not been installed or modified. If you order the wrong model, contact customer service and we will arrange free collection and dispatch the correct battery. For the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany returns are accepted within the same 14-day window but the return shipping cost is the customer responsibility.

How can I tell if my car battery is failing?

The clearest signs that a battery is at the end of its life are: the engine cranks slowly or takes longer than usual to start (especially in cold weather), the dashboard or headlights look dim at idle, the start-stop system stops working and a warning light appears, or the car simply will not start after a couple of days without use. Age is also a clue: most batteries perform well between 3 and 5 years; if yours is over 4-5 years old it is worth checking it with a tester or having it inspected before being stranded.

What do Ah, CCA and RC mean on a battery?

They are the three key electrical parameters of any starter battery. Ah (amp-hour) is the capacity: how much energy it stores (more Ah = more reserve for consumers). CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) is the cold cranking current: the power it delivers at -18 °C for 30 seconds without voltage falling below 7.2 V (more CCA = better cold starts). RC (Reserve Capacity) is the reserve capacity: the minutes the battery delivers 25 A at 25 °C before voltage drops below 10.5 V (it tells you how long it lasts if the alternator fails). As a rule, match the original Ah and CCA from the manufacturer; raising the CCA is safe, lowering it is not.

Can I fit a battery with higher capacity (Ah) than the original one?

Yes, as long as the higher-capacity battery fits physically in the tray (same length × width × height and same polarity), has the same voltage (12 V) and the same terminal type. Increasing 5 to 15 Ah over the original is completely safe and provides more reserve for cars with many accessory loads (audio, navigation, heating, camping fridges). What you should NOT do is reduce capacity or CCA below the manufacturer specification: you would lose margin on cold starts and the alternator may not charge correctly.

Does my start-stop car need an AGM or is an EFB enough?

It depends on the level of start-stop. If your car has basic start-stop (it switches the engine off at long stops and starts it again when you press the clutch/brake) an EFB is usually enough. If your car has advanced start-stop with regenerative braking (micro-hybrid, mild-hybrid) an AGM is mandatory: that system charges the battery at very high currents that only an electrolyte immobilised in fibreglass can withstand. The safest option is to enter your registration plate in our finder: it automatically detects the technology your vehicle requires from VIN/equipment.

How long does a car battery last?

A typical lead-acid or EFB battery lasts 3-5 years, an AGM can last 6-8 years and a cyclic gel or LiFePO4 battery up to 10 years in leisure use. Real lifetime depends on several factors: climate (extreme heat speeds up sulphation), driving patterns (short trips discharge more than the alternator can replace), number of starts per day (urban start-stop), accessory loads (high-power audio, fridges) and the health of the charging system. For seldom-used cars we recommend a battery maintainer during long idle periods to extend life.

Which payment methods do you accept?

At baterias.com we accept credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard) processed through a secure gateway with 3D Secure verification, bank transfer, Bizum (Spain only), PayPal and instalment financing on purchases over €50 via Aplazame and Sequra. All payments are processed in euros and protected with TLS encryption. For trade customers (workshops, fleets, fitters) we offer account with invoice and credit terms; contact us to open a B2B account.
