Four ways to find your battery

At baterias.com you can locate the compatible battery for your vehicle in four complementary ways, designed for different levels of technical knowledge. With a Spanish or Portuguese number plate, we identify it in under a second via DGT/IMT and show only 100 % compatible batteries. If your vehicle is foreign, classic or has no visible plate, the hierarchical make-and-model search guides you step by step. If you know the OEM code printed on the current battery (Varta E11, Tudor TC700, YTX12-BS…), the part-number search returns exact equivalents. And if you handle technical data (Ah, CCA, AGM/EFB, dimensions), the comparator filters the entire catalogue in real time. All four tools are free, instant and their results are validated by our technical team against the manufacturer's official data.

By number plate

The fastest and most accurate method: enter your Spanish or Portuguese number plate and, via direct connection to DGT and IMT, we identify the make, model, engine, year, engine code and equipment level of your vehicle in under a second. We then display the original factory-fitted battery and every approved equivalent, sorted by price, capacity (Ah), cold-cranking amps (CCA), technology (AGM, EFB, GEL, LiFePO4 or lead-acid) and stock availability.

  • Zero risk of error: only batteries whose dimensions, polarity, terminal type and capacity fit the exact housing of your vehicle are shown.
  • Automatic Start-Stop detection, regenerative braking and auxiliary loads — decisive when choosing between AGM and EFB.
  • Instant and free: no prior registration, no waiting and no purchase commitment.
  • Coverage: cars, motorbikes, vans, motorhomes, lorries and machinery with a Spanish or Portuguese number plate.

By brand and model

If your vehicle is registered outside Iberia, is a classic, has no visible plate (boat, jet-ski, off-road quad) or you simply prefer browsing by category, the hierarchical make-and-model search takes you step by step from the vehicle type (car, motorbike, lorry, van, boat, motorhome, jet-ski, quad…) to the exact compatible battery. More than 30,000 models verified by our technicians against the official Varta, Tudor, Exide and OEM manufacturer catalogues.

  • International coverage: ideal for imported, classic or non-DGT/IMT-registered vehicles.
  • Intuitive navigation: type → make → model → engine → year, in five clicks.
  • Complete technical sheet with Ah, CCA, technology, dimensions, polarity and terminal position.
  • Specialist applications: photovoltaic solar, marine AGM, electric mobility aids, industrial and UPS.

Search by brand and model →

By part-number

If you have the factory-fitted original battery or a dealership delivery note, the part-number search is the direct route to the exact equivalent. Enter the vehicle manufacturer's OEM reference — Audi, BMW, Ford, Mercedes, Scania, Volkswagen, Renault, Peugeot, Iveco, MAN, Volvo, Caterpillar, John Deere — and our cross-reference index returns the compatible battery and every approved aftermarket equivalent from Varta, Tudor, Exide, Bosch or Kronobat.

  • Verified OEM references: database with more than 7,000 original part-numbers from 280+ vehicle and heavy-machinery manufacturers.
  • Same battery, better price: compare the dealership reference with approved aftermarket equivalents with no loss of warranty or service life.
  • Broad coverage: cars, 4x4s, vans, lorries, buses, agricultural, marine and heavy machinery (Caterpillar, JCB, John Deere, Liebherr…).
  • Specialist technical support: if your OEM reference does not appear, we reply on WhatsApp with the exact equivalent.

Search by part-number →

By specifications

If you handle technical data — capacity (Ah), cold-cranking amps (CCA), voltage, technology or exact dimensions — the specification comparator filters the entire catalogue in real time. It is the tool for professionals, workshops, fleet managers, solar installers and advanced users who need to compare brands, prices and performance with concrete technical criteria.

  • Combinable filters: application, technology (AGM, EFB, GEL, LiFePO4 Lithium), Ah, CCA, voltage, brand and dimensions (length × width × height with ±mm tolerance).
  • Side-by-side comparison: select up to 4 batteries and compare them in a single view, column by column.
  • Free-text search by OEM reference, manufacturer or EAN inside the comparator.
  • Instant results: the listing updates live as you adjust the filters, with no page reload.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find the right battery for my car?

At baterias.com you can locate the battery compatible with your vehicle in three ways: enter your registration plate in our search tool (it returns the original equivalent battery instantly), browse by car make and model, or enter the OEM reference or part number of your current battery. The system cross-references over 25,000 vehicles with the leading manufacturers database to guarantee correct voltage, capacity (Ah), cold cranking amps (CCA) and polarity.

What is the difference between AGM, EFB and standard lead-acid batteries?

Conventional lead-acid batteries are the most affordable option and are fitted to cars without start-stop. EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) is an upgraded technology that withstands more charge-discharge cycles and suits basic start-stop systems. AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries hold the electrolyte in fibreglass, deliver twice the cycle life of EFB and are mandatory on vehicles with advanced start-stop and regenerative braking. Rule of thumb: if your car has regenerative braking you need AGM; if it has only basic start-stop, EFB is sufficient.

How long does delivery take?

Standard shipping within mainland Spain and Portugal takes 24 to 48 working hours. We also offer express delivery before 2 pm on the next working day for orders placed before 6 pm (excluding weekends and bank holidays). Delivery to the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany typically takes 3 to 5 working days. The Balearic and Canary Islands have specific delivery times depending on the product.

Do you offer at-home battery installation? In which cities?

Yes. We provide a professional at-home battery installation service in the main Spanish cities: Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, Zaragoza and other major capitals. A qualified technician travels to the customer location or to wherever the vehicle is parked, fits the battery in 30 to 60 minutes and takes the old battery away for free recycling. The service is usually delivered within 1 to 3 hours of order confirmation.

What warranty do your batteries come with?

Every battery sold at baterias.com is covered by a minimum 2-year manufacturer warranty against production defects, in accordance with European consumer goods legislation. Varta, Tudor, Exide and Optima batteries carry the official manufacturer warranty, which can be up to 4 years on some premium models. We only sell brand-new batteries with recent production dates (no more than 6 months old), never refurbished or old stock.

Can I return the battery if I ordered the wrong model?

Yes. Within mainland Spain and Portugal, returns are free for the first 14 calendar days after delivery, provided the battery has not been installed or modified. If you order the wrong model, contact customer service and we will arrange free collection and dispatch the correct battery. For the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany returns are accepted within the same 14-day window but the return shipping cost is the customer responsibility.

How can I tell if my car battery is failing?

The clearest signs that a battery is at the end of its life are: the engine cranks slowly or takes longer than usual to start (especially in cold weather), the dashboard or headlights look dim at idle, the start-stop system stops working and a warning light appears, or the car simply will not start after a couple of days without use. Age is also a clue: most batteries perform well between 3 and 5 years; if yours is over 4-5 years old it is worth checking it with a tester or having it inspected before being stranded.

What do Ah, CCA and RC mean on a battery?

They are the three key electrical parameters of any starter battery. Ah (amp-hour) is the capacity: how much energy it stores (more Ah = more reserve for consumers). CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) is the cold cranking current: the power it delivers at -18 °C for 30 seconds without voltage falling below 7.2 V (more CCA = better cold starts). RC (Reserve Capacity) is the reserve capacity: the minutes the battery delivers 25 A at 25 °C before voltage drops below 10.5 V (it tells you how long it lasts if the alternator fails). As a rule, match the original Ah and CCA from the manufacturer; raising the CCA is safe, lowering it is not.

Can I fit a battery with higher capacity (Ah) than the original one?

Yes, as long as the higher-capacity battery fits physically in the tray (same length × width × height and same polarity), has the same voltage (12 V) and the same terminal type. Increasing 5 to 15 Ah over the original is completely safe and provides more reserve for cars with many accessory loads (audio, navigation, heating, camping fridges). What you should NOT do is reduce capacity or CCA below the manufacturer specification: you would lose margin on cold starts and the alternator may not charge correctly.

Does my start-stop car need an AGM or is an EFB enough?

It depends on the level of start-stop. If your car has basic start-stop (it switches the engine off at long stops and starts it again when you press the clutch/brake) an EFB is usually enough. If your car has advanced start-stop with regenerative braking (micro-hybrid, mild-hybrid) an AGM is mandatory: that system charges the battery at very high currents that only an electrolyte immobilised in fibreglass can withstand. The safest option is to enter your registration plate in our finder: it automatically detects the technology your vehicle requires from VIN/equipment.

How long does a car battery last?

A typical lead-acid or EFB battery lasts 3-5 years, an AGM can last 6-8 years and a cyclic gel or LiFePO4 battery up to 10 years in leisure use. Real lifetime depends on several factors: climate (extreme heat speeds up sulphation), driving patterns (short trips discharge more than the alternator can replace), number of starts per day (urban start-stop), accessory loads (high-power audio, fridges) and the health of the charging system. For seldom-used cars we recommend a battery maintainer during long idle periods to extend life.

Which payment methods do you accept?

At baterias.com we accept several secure payment methods, all in euros and protected with TLS encryption: credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard) processed through a secure gateway with 3D Secure verification — the fastest option, lets us process the order immediately for 24-hour delivery; Bizum (Spain only) for customers with Spanish mobile banking, one of the quickest ways to pay small and medium amounts; PayPal to pay without sharing your card details and with PayPal buyer protection; bank transfer with the bank details sent by email after purchase, the order reserved until we confirm the deposit; and cash on delivery to pay the courier at the moment of delivery (subject to service coverage in your area and a small handling surcharge). For trade customers (workshops, fleets, fitters) we offer account with invoice and credit terms; contact us to open a B2B account.
