Lithium batteries (LiFePO4)

LiFePO4 lithium batteries (lithium iron phosphate) weigh up to 70% less, deliver thousands of cycles and charge several times faster than any lead-acid. With a built-in BMS protecting against overcharge and deep discharge, they are the best investment for motorhomes, marine, solar and racing under intensive use.

Is a LiFePO4 worth the higher price?

For intensive cyclic use, yes: 2,000-5,000 cycles versus 400-800 for lead-acid means a several times lower cost per cycle, plus half the weight and much faster charging.

Is LiFePO4 lithium safe?

LiFePO4 is the most stable lithium chemistry (not the one in phones) and any serious battery includes a BMS that cuts off on overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit and temperature.

Can I replace my lead-acid battery with lithium directly?

In leisure installations (caravan, boat, solar) almost always yes ("drop-in"), but the charger/regulator must have a lithium profile. For conventional vehicle starting, ask us first.

What about lithium in winter?

LiFePO4 must not be charged below 0 °C; models with BT/heater manage this automatically. Cold discharge is fine down to about -20 °C.
