EFB batteries

EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) batteries are the reinforced evolution of the conventional flooded battery: thicker plates and additives built for the constant restart cycle of entry-level start-stop systems. Up to twice the cyclic endurance of a standard battery at a lower price than AGM.

What is the difference between EFB and AGM?

Both are start-stop technologies, but AGM handles more cycles and higher electrical demand (regenerative braking). EFB covers entry-level systems at a lower cost. Rule of thumb: always replace with the same technology or better.

Can I fit an EFB in a car without start-stop?

Yes. It is an upgrade: it withstands more cycles and short trips better than a conventional battery, for a small premium.

How long does an EFB battery last?

4 to 6 years in normal use. In intensive urban start-stop driving its reinforced design outlasts a conventional battery.
