The Deta DB740 in practice
When not to choose it
It is a conventional battery: not for Start-Stop cars, which need EFB or AGM depending on what they left the factory with. Never go below the original capacity and cranking either.

Car battery Deta DB740 Power 74Ah 680A 12V
With 74 Ah at 12 V and 680 A of cold cranking current (EN), the Deta DB740 from the Power range is a starter battery built for passenger cars with conventional starting, without a Start-Stop system. Its 278 × 175 × 190 mm and the positive terminal on the right make it the exact replacement for the 74 Ah battery fitted as standard to many cars.
In short: the Deta DB740 (74 Ah, 680 A, 278 × 175 × 190 mm, positive terminal on the right). It is a conventional battery for cars without Start-Stop: if yours has Start-Stop, it needs an EFB or AGM battery of the same size. Verified equivalent alternatives: Tudor TB740 and Varta E11.
- Stable voltage for the vehicle electronics (ECU, sensors, climate control).
- Good balance of capacity, cranking power and price.
- Designed to last several years under normal daily use.
- Low self-discharge: copes with long stops without losing charge.
What the Deta DB740 is for
Designed for passenger cars with conventional starting, without a Start-Stop system, the Deta DB740 is the direct replacement when your vehicle uses a 74 Ah battery of this format. Before buying, compare dimensions, terminals and capacity with the battery you are replacing. Check that it matches your current battery in dimensions, terminals and hold-down: this reference has a weight of 16.60 kg and B13 hold-down.
Dimensions, polarity and mounting
It has external dimensions of 278 × 175 × 190 mm and weighs 16.60 kg. The positive terminal on the right decides which side the cables end up on: it is the detail that causes most buying mistakes, so check it before ordering. It uses a B13 hold-down, the system that anchors and connects it in the vehicle. Before replacing it, measure your current battery tray: if all three dimensions and the terminal positions match, the swap is direct and needs no adapters.
The Deta DB740: Power range and conventional lead-acid technology
The DB740 is part of the Deta Power range. Choosing the right reference within the series comes down to capacity, dimensions and terminals: technology and quality are common to the whole family.
In a conventional battery the electrolyte is liquid and the lead plates are immersed in it. It is a mature, economical and easily recycled technology, ideal for starting vehicles in normal use.
Deta: the maker behind the DB740
Deta combines German engineering with Exide's industrial capacity. Its Power, Senator and PowerPRO series cover everything from urban cars to construction machinery. At baterias.com we work directly with the manufacturer or its official distributor: real stock, brand-new product and official warranty.
Warranty and coverage
The Deta DB740 comes with the manufacturer's official warranty against manufacturing defects; the exact period is stated in the brand's conditions. If it fails through a defect within the period, we replace it free of charge.
Usage and maintenance tips
Avoid leaving lights or accessories on with the engine off: most batteries fail not through defects but through repeated deep discharges. In normal daily use the alternator keeps the battery charged; if the car stands for weeks, a maintenance charge once a month prevents deep discharge.
Delivery times and returns
Order before 6:00 pm with stock available and it leaves today: mainland Spain and Portugal receive it in 24-48 working hours, the islands and the rest of the EU in 3 to 5 days. You have 14 days to return it if it has not been installed, with free collection on the mainland, and shipment tracking by email.

Frequently asked questions
How is the Deta DB740 battery installed in the vehicle?
Our blog guide covers it in detail; if the owner's handbook describes a different procedure, follow the manufacturer. Allow 15-30 minutes and a 10 mm spanner for a L3 case like this one. If the car keeps its battery in the boot or under a seat, it can take up to twice as long. What matters most is the terminal order: removing, negative (−) before positive (+); refitting, positive (+) before negative (−). In between, with the engine off and the key out, release the clamp and fit the new battery the same way round as the original, positive on the right (polarity).
What is the service life of the DB740 model?
There is no exact figure: for a battery such as the Deta DB740 (conventional), a reasonable guide is 4 to 6 years in regular car use without Start-Stop. Many factors play a part: how it is used (lots of short trips, for example), temperature (cold makes every start harder and intense heat evaporates the electrolyte), the condition of the alternator and charging system, power drawn with the engine off and maintenance, as well as the type of car and whether it has Start-Stop.
What are the dimensions of the Deta DB740 battery?
The Deta DB740 takes up 278×175×190 mm (length, width and height, terminals included), the European L3 case size, with a B13 hold-down. Before buying, measure the space in your car: one extra millimetre can stop the hold-down clamp from closing.
What polarity does the Deta DB740 battery have?
It has the positive on the right (polarity). If your current battery has its positive on the other side, this one is not suitable without longer cables or a reconfigured system (short-circuit risk). Put it in front of you, terminals towards you: the post with the red ring and the + sign is the positive.
Does this battery fit my car?
For your own vehicle: type your number plate into the finder (DGT/DVLA/KBA identify model and engine), check the "Compatible vehicles" tab below, listing vehicles verified by our technical team, or message us on WhatsApp with make, model, engine and year; we reply during business hours (Mon–Fri 10:00–13:30 and 16:30–18:00 (Spanish time, CET)). The compatibility list for the DB740 runs to 1,457 verified vehicle versions. The car manufacturer's specifications always take priority over our tables.
Which batteries are equivalent to the Deta DB740?
A direct equivalent needs what this DB740 offers: 278×175×190 mm, positive on the right, the same Ah and CCA and conventional technology. Not just any technology will do: an EFB cannot be replaced with a conventional battery in Start-Stop cars. The "Equivalents" section further down lists the recommended alternatives.
